Speak what you feel without hesitation

Hi Folks,

Good evening all the people out there. How you all are doing? Today we will be discussing about one problem that almost each one of us goes through. ‘Fear of Public Speaking’

Most of the people feel shy while speaking in public. What abstain you from speaking in public? Fear of rejection, disenchanted audience, lack of confidence, not knowing whether you are uttering the correct thing or not, and fear of making a fool out of yourself etc etc. There are many reasons to threaten you from feeling lousy while speaking.

Yes it is rightly said by Ralph Waldo Emerson,”All the great speakers were bad speakers at first.” What made them great?? When they loose their fear and decided to represent their words without hesitation in front of thousands of people, then they became what they are called so.

There are some tips to improve your public speaking skills and will help you in growing yourself as a good speaker.

1.      Avoid talking too fast: This is something that you can practice with your daily life conversations. Talking with a high velocity can make your words get grumbled and thus the other person will not understand what you are trying to say. Take your time while speaking and be wise enough to know where to put a ‘pause’.

2.      Record your voice and learn from it: Tone of your voice is as important as your words. You can do this to know how much fluent you are, how your tone go with the words and also what is your voice quality.

3.      Practice with mirror: Yes, this may seem something very strange but this is true. Speaking in front of mirror makes you more confidence and can help you in maintaining your postures and body language.

4.      Practice in front of your friends and family: Participate in family function and give speeches. This will help you regain your confidence.

5.      Listen or read speeches: The collection of speeches by Swami Vivekananda is a great option. Analyse the prominent speeches and try to understand what makes a speech stand out. You will slowly learn to make catchy statements.

6.      Do not recite the same sentence: Take extra care not to repeat any sentence over and over again. You should also make sure that you do not repeat the same quote in two different speeches in front of the same audience.

7.      Speak in public events: After much practice, it is high time to speak in front of strangers. Participate in public events and opt to speak in front of stranger.

A few more factors that need your attention are:
·        Take care of your dressing and grooming that will give a better impression on the audience.
·        Body language is more powerful than words. So pay special attention to your gestures.
·        Targeting individual is not cool. So, avoid that and go ahead with a cool headed approach.
·        Careful use of words. Words are free; it’s how you use them that may cost you.

Always remember,’ if you fail, don’t be embarrassed by your failures. Learn from them and start again with a new approach.’

Become a forthright but with a level- headed mind. Feel positive and be a jauntily person. Avoid the fear of everything, lose your shyness and speak what you feel. All you need to do is grasp your subject and the words will follow you.

It’s time to upgrade your roots. All the best!! Have a great day.
